Waitangi blog

We are learning about Captian William Hobson and what he was doing to get the treaty of Waitangi up and running. We learned that Captian William Hobson sailed to the Bay of islands of New Zealand in 1837. He was told that there were lots of wars between the Maori iwi. Captian William Hobson went back to England in 1838 to say that the British should be in charge of New Zealand in 1840. So Captian William Hobson started to write the Treaty of Waitangi with the help of James Freeman. Here is a poster what we learnt.
